Alfresco

I am having another odd day today. I have painted three different watercolours in my desperation to achieve an ecceptable standard of satisfaction.
Why oh why is the journey so frustrating at times.

Trevor! How do you always manage the perfect use of hard and soft edges? You make watercolor look effortless! I'm sorry you are having a day where satisfaction doesn't come as easily as you'd like- but your painting are wonderful!

Trevor,
if you are satisfied so am I. Fabriano , Canson even more! Did you go vacationing in Spain? Lucky you. When I look at it an explosion of colors is serenading my eyes! Lovely .

Another wonderful, loose watercolor. I really enjoy your style - something I aspire to - minimal strokes that depict the scene with lots of atmosphere.

Hi Trevor,
Although you may be frustrated, your results are lovely! I really like the repetition of the red tableclothes.

Hello Michelle
It is rather selfish of me to complain, and I must again apologise. My high and lows get extreme at times. Thank you kindly for visiting and your warming comments.

Hi, Trevor. I know those weeks so well. Am having one myself--scraping and mixing mud, and battling each stroke. I have to say, your struggle isn't apparent in this painting. It's fresh, energetic and beautiful!

Hi Liz
I realise that I am not alone, and that these are times that we have to except has part of the process.
Thankfully artists like yourself are very supportive and undertanding.
Thank you very much for that.

By the time I get here it always seems as if everyone else has already said it all. I can sympathize with your frustration without necessarily agreeing with your self-criticism. All the best.

to me this is the meaning of watercolor, a push/pull process that can sometimes be frustrating.. i like this one because you managed to create an atmosphere without it being overworked -- i think the white of the paper is really helping this, too!

Paula Villanova said...

I really like this. At very first glance, I thought it may be an abstract, but upon further looking, began to notice the recognizable shapes of tables with umbrellas and people dining. Fun to look at and delightful colors!

I think we sometimes spot things in our own work which we aren't happy with, but not everyone sees the same! Trevor, to me your watercolours are exceptional and they are all of a high standard.
If you have a bad day, just think tomorrow will be different!

Hello Sam
Your words are from experience.
I thank you for that.

Thank you Trevor for stopping by my blog and for your comment!

I have removed the following tracking system because between the followers appeared a person with a extravagant taste for immoral websites according to his personal profile, I do not want again that person among my followers, so I override that system in my Blog.
I am very grateful for the visits and comments on my blog, I have seen your paintings too, you has extraordinary watercolors skills, I will continue visiting your blog to see more new things, thanks for visiting.

Do you mean "acceptable"?

Oh I know this feeling of frustration!!! But remember, just as it comes, it goes again.

Trevor Lingard said...

Hello Jala
Thank you for calling
I am sure you are right. I am sure it is a mind game at times. Perhaps I am in a rut and need to decide on a new direction. My principle have been that painting is for enjoying, but I am afraid I am not practising that of late.
Sorry for the gloom and doom. I will get through it has you say.

I hope all these deserving comments have reinforced our belief and admiration of your talent Trevor. Aren't we always our worst critique? Aren't we also so thankful for friends like these who can see and point out the best in us? I love the light and bright pops of white in these highlighted by your skillful use of darks. Your deliberate lack of detail has the viewer fill in the blanks and therefore draws them further into your paintings!

Trevor Lingard said...

Has always Sheila you give me much needed encouragement.
I do appreciate everybodies support immensly especially yours. I do feel rather, that I am fishing for compliments and sympathy. I do hope that is not coming over to the viewer.
Again Kindest Regards

Trevor,
There's nothing left to be said... I read all of the comments & replies above. However, I can't resist commenting that I understand your frustration - you're the only one seeing both "what you wanted to paint" and "what you did paint". From my perspective as a viewer you hit a home run!
Watercolor is a hard taskmaster... I love it!
