Grand Canal

In order to get the feeling of expanse and perspective, I thought I should try this format.
It seems to have worked and I am quite pleased with the outcome. I hope it appeals to the viewer.

Hi Trevor,
yes it present a lot of appeal , the format and the watercolor. A very nice athmosphere, it wold be lovely to be right there sipping a cup of coffe and enjoyng the traffic on the Grand Canal!

Bravo! Your composition (and great brushwork) are just right.

Have you ever seen the work of our local watercolorist, Stan Miller? His Venice scenes (quite different from yours) are also some of my favorites. Another guy doinf some Venice work is Bob Lafond, who has a blog, mark and Remark.

Some day I will break out those Italy pix of mine from 2006 and get cracking.

Trevor, to me, the format looks perfect for this wonderful Venice landscape. I like very much the athmosphere you were able to give to this watercolors. Best regards. Tito.

I think the narrow horizontal format is ideal for this picture. Scenes with so much of the appeal on one level are much better presented without distracting elements hanging over them - or under them either, come to think of it. Another wonderful 'wish I were there' painting, Trevor

Wonderful work, Trevor. You do a terrific job with values, which I think must be much more difficult with in watercolor. Looking forward to seeing more.
