I painted this watercolour recently and found the composition interesting. The lady with the umberella does look a little harsh, but she may have reason! I wonder what their thoughts are.
Hi Trevor, your new posting always result in a pleasant surprise. The two heads complement each other so well , i think i can hear the wheels moving inside their brain, all cooled down by those vastly different hats. It is a very intriguing ans stimulating watercolor
She probably wondering why she didn't think about wearing a bigger hat so she wouldn't have to lug around an umbrella like that clever lady looking all smug now.
Sheila has made a very clever comment so I won't dwell on the subject!But these two ladies are perfect foil to each other..and your art is as good as ever! Lovely composition, Trevor.
Really lovely, Trevor. I feel l'm standing on a street corner, and these two have just walked up. So fun to see your distant figures, and now close up. The woman with the umbrella looks alert and expectant to me--as if she's waiting for a friend or a cab. Love the patch of light on the forward lady's neck and hat.
Hi Stephen I do find portraits difficult too. I usually create a pose with an hidden face were I can. I am afraid the likeness is zero. But I do try and give character. Thank you has always for your comments. Regards
Trevor, beautiful indeed. I love the way the light rakes across the hat and upper soulders of the forward woman. I am especially fond of the pieces you do set in an earlier era. Such a wonderful imagination and execution. The mill workers on holiday were also intriguing.

This is great Trevor. I admit that I find portraiture in watercolor almost impossible to do. You've done a great job here.
