Market Day

Todays watercolour is a market day in a North Yorkshire town. I like to put lights against darks in order to create sparkle. I do leave alot of white paper but I think that adds to the atmosphere. The chap with the white hat and jacket looks rather smart dont you think?
I hope this appeals to you.

Nice work Trevor. I agree, the white paper adds the immediacy one feels if they were actually there. The sketch like quality also suggests that this is a brief moment in time passing by us.

Time is certainly going quickly.
A bit scary dont you think.

Yes, he does look like quite the Dapper Dan. I just love the way you have the background fade into a colorful mist.

Perhaps the dapper has got a date.
Glad you like the mood.

I like these three scenes Trevor! The wonderful thing about watercolour is the blotchyness and immediacy. Every stroke... or blank... is there in the final picture.

Trevor Lingard said...

Hello Mark
Your desciption "blotchyness" is cool.
I will use that term in my demonstrations. You are right about watercolours. There is not another medium like it for immediacy and also "mistakes".
