Waiting in the wings

Its some while since last posting on my blog so I hope you will forgive my neglect.
I have some what cheated with this composition by putting two photos I took of one model together. The young woman kindly posed for our art society some time ago. That is the beauty of photography has a reference. Perhaps the purists would frown, but I will resort to any inspirational reference for my fix.

No apology necessary! Life happens. I love this. A departure from your usual cityscapes but a delight for the eyes nonetheless.

Geniously made this watercolour, Trevor. It seems to be a Degas's work.

Greattings.

Beautiful, and indeed reminiscent of Degas. I especially enjoy the "lost" edges and subtle color shifts in this piece. No need to apologize for using photography: it's the inspiration that matters, not how it's recorded. That's my two cents at least...

Hi Trevor,
this was worth waiting for. What an expressive piece! I could not believe watercolor was so powerfull, but clearly it is. I am convinced now that when you use a photo reference, a lot of your memories and persona go into the piece, making it more as your own creation, versus representing what your eyes see. A masterfull watercolor!

Gloriously done, Trevor! You've combined the two dancers beautifully.

I must be impure. I prefer to work from photographs instead of plein air or live models. Still lifes are okay because they don't move and the lighting doesn't change. I take forever to create my works, so photos suit me and I think your rendition is masterful!!

You are in good company Trevor, Degas is said to have used the same devise.

Oi!Gosto muito das suas obras de arte e das bailarinas em especial. A primeira tela que pintei aos nove anos de idade foi uma bailarina sem pés e sem cabeça, mais para mim ela era perfeita.
Tudo de bom beijão.
