Pals

I do like to put figures in my paintings. I think the chap leaning on his stick is asking the lady next to him for a date!!!
Perhaps she is refusing his advances and playing hard to get!
I wonder what the two pals are thinking!

A light filled lovely painting of old people who, despite your hopeful dating comment seem caught up in their own private worlds. I like it very much..they are along together. :)

I love this Trevor. You're as skilled with figures as with your cityscapes. I like how you are able to paint a scene where people can fill in their own story to the painted figures.

This is great. Your work is so loose and lovely, and you expertly maintain the whites. I'm very impressed.

Hi Trevor,
the singularity of each character is what attracts me the most, the humanity of it is what bind all together. The narrative
add to the drama. Grand.

Trevor, you are so accomplished at doing people in waterolor. I love the way you capture the light.

Hum, what are those two fellows thinking? Perhaps the one on the right is hoping the bus will arrive soon, and the one on the left is making his grocery list. I think the lady is right to play hard to get. I love people caught in everyday moments.

Jared Kelley said...

Thanks Mr Lingard: I was intrigued by the expressiveness of your watercolors. The emotions are immediately tangible. I have dabbled in the medium however I tend to have the stolidness of an architect. I am glad to be following your works. - Jared

Trevor, again... a great watercolor! I love how you preserve the white of the paper in so many interesting place. I also appreciate the variety of greys that you get. I find it hard to make greys/neutrals and I've got to work harder at that. Inspiring!

With minimal brush strokes you have captured a wonderful scene and mood. An elderly gathering, enjoying a moment in the sun together, reminiscing the past perhaps, while at the same time enjoying being part of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The greyed colors are perfect.

Hi Trevor,

Wonderful and poignant paintings. Timeless. I associate them with English literature from the 20’s and 30’s (my favorite era in literature). I will follow your blog henceforth.
