Well today I have oil painted an image I have done previously in watercolour and initially I am quite pleased with it.
I am painting rather a lot of oils lately and I am doing my old thing of worrying that if I leave my watercolours more than a few days I will "loose it". Its funny really but I think that has prevented me venturing into the oil world in the past.
well, I am enjoying oils no end and thats what I need at present.
I hope you find it interesting.

Very nice study of the female form. I can tell you appreciate all the hills and valleys of the human body. Of course not as many fruit have all those nooks and crannies.

Cheeky and beautifully painted, Trevor.

I can identify with your dilemma over oils versus watercolours. I love the forgiving nature of oils and adore the unpredictability of watercolours.

One of the difficulties of having two loves - when you're with one you always miss the other.

Lovely painting, shows you are skilled in both mediums.

Oh I dunno i can see some lovely peaches there.

I wouldn't worry about losing the ability to paint in watercolours - even after not painting at all for 25 years, when I came back to it I was able to jump straight in without hesitation, so I doubt you will forget your techniques so easily.

And oils is a wonderful medium to master so is well worh pursuing.

She's beautiful, but she must be a little cold! I think it's great that you work in 2 mediums... I'll bet that you can probably go back and forth without too much difficulty. It's good to have the skill to do both!

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words about my work. I find working in different mediums very rewarding. I have discovered new possibilities when switching back and forth even if it has been months or years. I love your work, especially your "cheeky" lady!

Well. I stand corrected. I thought you could only achieve the look of watercolor with watercolors! She's lovely!

Trevor, your work is amazing! Both your oils and watercolors are superbly edited of elements. You have an amazing eye in "drawing" which allows you to get the correct strokes down first thing and produces a looseness that is not possible by constant revisions. Mastering this from your years of watercolor painting will carry over in the ability to keep it loose and fresh in oil as well. These last few oils achieve that well. I'll be back.....

Thank you Trevor for your kind comments and taking a look at the latest. I must say that I love the expressive quality of your brushstrokes. Your cityscapes are really beautiful and this portrait is very lush... in a painterly way, that is ;) Very well done!
