"Pantheon", Rome

To days oil painting as been previously painted in watercolour, which is shown in an earlier post.
I used that watercolour has reference rather than my original photo.
I think it helps me to eliminate the detail and simplify the composition.
Painted on a 9" x 11" prepared mdf board, using W+N Griffin, Alkyd quick drying paint.

Hi Trevor - this is a wonderful oil painting of Rome - you have still captured the light and shade, which I imagine is more difficult to achieve with oil paints, than with watercolours.
I love the splash of vibrant colour - it really brings the figures to life.
At last, I will be visiting Rome next week - I hope it is as beautiful as your paintings!
Best wishes - Sylvia.

Very nice, Trevor. I keep trying to remind myself that an additional stage in the production of a painting can be beneficial in refining the image.

Oh how I love your street scenes - I did a cafe scene recently for a challenge and used your work as inspiration (didn't turn out anything like yours of course!!!) Love the way you do your figures and the softness and flow of colour!
